In memory of
Phyllis

I have a long story and I’d prefer not to tell tales and name names, so let’s just say I some how ended up for adoption.  I was in a store that closed and several rescue groups and agencies took the other cats but I was left.  The last one to be chosen so to speak – until Cat’s Cradle came to my rescue!!!

They took me to the vet because I have a head tilt and lots of missing teeth.  Dr. Wilson saw right away that I needed dental work.  I had some infections in my mouth and the treatment helped that.  Thankfully, due to recent donations from CCAR supporters, I was able to get the needed medical treatment!

I’m a cute little ginger girl – truly adorable and sweet in every way.  I like to cuddle and be petted but I’m also independent enough to enjoy my alone time for long naps.  My head does tilt a little most but not all the time.  My breathing is a bit raspy, but not nearly as bad as when I first came into the fold.

I’d be quite happy to wait for you while you’re at work all day as I do like a lot of good uninterrupted nap time.  I’ll follow you around sometimes and talk to you.  Other times I’ll sit in a window for hours on end.  Because of my missing front teeth I do drool just a little bit.  It’s no big deal.

In a group of people I know, my favorite thing is to go from lap to lap – sharing my attentions so that everyone can have the fun of petting me!

Okay, I suppose you’re still wondering about that head tilt.  Well, I used to wonder too but now I’ve accepted it.  My doctor said it’s caused by an inner ear polyp that would require microsurgery and cost several thousand dollars – and that the polyp might then return!  The good news is that I can live quite comfortably with this so we can all stop worrying.

Luckily, I’m such a little darling that after awhile no one even notices my head tilt.  My first foster mom even said, “I don‘t consider Phyllis to be a special needs cat at all.”  I don’t even consider myself handicapped.  I can live with it and I hope you can too.  I’m a wonderful companion and hope someone will give me a chance at a forever home!

We had been told that Phyllis was spayed but, alas, that was not the case!  She escaped from her foster home, partied for a week, was picked up by the Pound, and a couple of months later had four adorable kittens.  Phyllis is now spayed!

Phyllis is enjoying a new foster home and loves to talk and interact with the people.  She also loves her scratching post!  She is a great companion and is still waiting for someone who can appreciate all her good qualities.

News from the law students who are fostering Phyllis:  "Phyllis might be in heaven right now, but so are all of her roommates!  Everybody loves her so much. Hands down, you could not find a cat with a better personality than Phyl."

Our darling Phyllis had the best year of her life with Mark and his roommates.  She enjoyed every minute with lots of affection and nurturing from many warm and loving people.  This summer, while her foster dad was out of town, someone left open a window during the heat wave.  Phyllis got out and was hit by a car and - in the blink of an eye - her life ended.  Phyllis was buried in the yard and orange flowers were planted around her.  Mark and his friends are devastated and deeply mourning the loss of this delightful and loving girl, as are all of us who loved Phyllis.
