In memory of
Hazel

This morning (May 25) at 3:10 a.m. we said goodbye to Hazel.

She obviously wanted to avoid that appointment with the traveling vet this afternoon, choosing her own exit time.  Little Hazel had enjoyed several bites of a Grace's yummy pork chop in the afternoon and a little bit of Fiona's delicious chicken broth - and spent some time resting on her loveseat.

Luckily she didn't die from starvation as she seemed destined when Jenna rescued her.  It was touch-and-go during her syringe feeding period - but during her feeding tube phase she did enjoy life, trotting up and down the hall, head-butting visitors. and reaching out to tap people for petting.  Her favorite visitors were Wendy, Shannon, Dave, Zack, Fiona, Beverly, Bev, and Orysia, along with others who met her only once.

After removing the feeding tube herself after 5 weeks, she then had another month of really high quality socializing.  Only the last couple of weeks were difficult and she was quite a trooper.

From day one in our efforts to give Hazel a quality life, Dr. Elizabeth Wilson was there for us.  With her help Hazel had a "happy ending" period to her life that she so deserved.  We can never thank Dr. Wilson enough for going so far above the call of duty in helping this little feline get every possible chance at overcoming her illness.  We also appreciate the caring assistance of Laina and Corrine and the rest of the staff at Broadmead Vet who provide such good care of our rescued cats - especially Hazel.

Hazel was terribly uncomfortable the last couple of days and we are glad she is no longer enduring this.  We will all remember her as an exceptionally special little tabby lady.
