our 2 year old miracle cat who was saved by our incredible vet, Dr. Elizabeth Wilson from Broadmead Veterinary Services. Zachary came to us from a farm where the owner said he was going to shoot him in the head as he didn't want him anymore. He was a sturdy, very sweet and gentle but kind of shy boy. He had our usual vet checks and seemed quite fine and was ultimately sent to a foster home where he was much loved. However, to make a long story short, it turns out that he had diabetes (unusual in a cat this age) and ultimately had "fatty liver disease" from untreated diabetes and not eating. Zachary was literally on the verge of death when he was rushed to Dr. Wilson. She went above and beyond when taking care of this boy, checking on him throughout the night at her clinic and keeping us fully informed several times a day as to his progress. We worked diligently to get his blood sugar under control and to get him to eat (after days of not eating or drinking). His condition required frequent monitoring, but he is now stable. Al and Grace are fostering Zachary and are taking excellent care of him. They have managed to keep his diabetes under control through constant monitoring and attention. Although Dr. Wilson charged CCAR an amazingly small amount for the extensive care he received, we do need to raise funds for his ongoing care and supplies. Donations can be made by cheque or credit card. Contact Beverly at 655-6451 for information or check out the Donations page to see how to donate to Zachary's special care, or go to the Sponsoring page if you could sponsor him on a continuing basis.
