Tony's Story: |
|
I was found in terrible condition. I had been abandoned in an open field in the outskirts of Victoria near the highway. I was starving and ravaged by fleas so I went begging door to door. Luckily I was taken in by a nice woman nearby who called another nice woman who picked me up and then called a nice woman at Cat’s Cradle Animal Rescue! I was beginning to feel like a basketball in the last two minutes of a game – passed from person to person! Whew – glad that’s over. Anyway, I was covered with scabs from flea bites and nearly starving. A few more days out in the freezing cold winter and I would have been – well, you know… They took me to yet another nice woman – Dr. Wilson at Broadmead Vet Clinic – and she prescribed something that was just right because I am totally back to my very handsome self. My fur is absolutely silky and soft to the touch – and I do like petting so this is a nice asset. I still play like a kitten and I won’t tell my real age. I am in my prime and have many, many years ahead! My memory is a little hazy, but I think I’m about 6, maybe a bit more? In human years I’d be graduating and getting my first job. Luckily, as a cat, my only job is to bring you pleasure by rubbing by you, occasionally sitting in your lap, and talking to you a lot. Yes, yes, I’m a talker – what can I say?! Some of us just have “the gift of gab” and that’s me. Meow! I love to sleep on the bed with people, but I'm not a pest. I like some petting and I purr quite a bit, but then I find a nice spot on the bed and sleep through the entire night. I’m a patient cat and will happily wait all day for you if you are at work or school. I lived in a foster home with some dogs for awhile. I had to keep them all in line and it was a lot of work. I’d prefer not to work so hard. I played hide-and-seek with my foster mom and startled her quite a bit – it was great fun. Now I’m back with a Cat’s Cradle lady, waiting for a new foster home. I like it here but there are several cats and I can’t get all the attention and that annoys me, so I’d prefer MY OWN foster home where all the food and all the petting is for me! Update: Tony went to a new foster home today with Lyrica. He's a confident and affectionate cat who immediately warmed up to her. We hope Tony someday has the permanent home he so well deserves. |
